How can I change the layout of the main index in wordpress?

Question by janetfaie: How can I change the layout of the main index in wordpress?
I want to have layout similar to: http://blissful-weddings.com/. I'm not talking about the theme, I have that. I want a main index layout w/c has a thumbnail and just a summary of the content of the post and the reader wld have an option to read more. thanks.
